Insurance Follow-Up Representative
General Description
MSM seeks an Insurance Follow-up Representative to be responsible for reviewing accounts to determine the appropriate action necessary to resolve open balances through utilization of our billing software, including identifying areas of process improvement.
Essential Duties
- Accurately utilize GE Centricity system and client information systems.
- Understand basic A/R metrics.
- Accurately respond to priority follow-up requests.
- Accurately review accounts in Revenue Cycle Engine and take appropriate action.
- Support Customer Service by appropriately handling overflow calls.
Desired Skills and Expertise
- Experience with following up on unpaid health insurance claims, filing appeals and verifying claim accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality for patient protected health information in accordance with legal requirements and company policy
- Strong critical-thinking skills
- Excellent verbal communication and written communication skills
- Excellent follow-through and time-management skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, or related area, and at least one year of relevant experience in insurance claims follow-up, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
