It is my pleasure to announce the addition of Troy Simon to the MSM Executive team. Troy joins MSM with twenty years of valuable healthcare management experience ranging from; leadership in hospitals, integrated delivery systems, large multispecialty groups, ancillary services, and consulting. He will serve as MSM’s Chief Operations Officer. Troy will take the knowledge he has gained through his extensive experience to help our clients exceed expectations for their practices’ success. Troy has spent a large part of his career operating large multispecialty physician groups.
Troy’s has proven expertise in operating high complexity laboratories, imaging centers, physical therapy centers, as well as infusion centers. He has led integration negotiations with health systems, negotiated health system acquisitions of group practices, handled new practice acquisitions, initiated new practice development, managed large building and new site development projects, and most importantly, has demonstrated the ability to significantly improve the physician practices he is affiliated with. Troy focuses on increasing physician practice’s operational efficiencies, profitability, and recognition.
Prior to joining MSM, Troy was the Chief Executive Officer of a 65-physician multispecialty group in Colorado. One of Troy’s early accomplishments was the identification and implementation of approximately $1.4 million in annual cost reductions. Troy later led affiliation negotiations between the group and a prominent local health system. This resulted in a unanimous decision by the shareholders to affiliate with the system.
In 2009, while Troy was Chief Executive Officer of a multi-specialty group in Ohio, the group received the Better Performing Practice Award from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). The variables considered for the survey were profitability and cost management, productivity and staffing, and patient satisfaction. The MGMA surveyed 1,732 medical groups and selected 28 elite groups. Troy’s group was located in an area with one of the worst economies in the nation (17+% unemployment) and a payor mix that included over 54% Medicare and Medicaid. Despite those challenges, the group received top honors.
Troy has a strong educational background. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado and his Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Health Services Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. Troy is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) where he was the former President of the Ohio MGMA, and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
MSM is proud to have Troy join our executive team and look forward to the positive impact Troy will make for MSM and our clients.
